9 Views of Mount Fuji

During my travels in Japan, I was struck by the contrast between the everyday urban and rural landscapes and the iconic presence of Mount Fuji glimpsed in the distance. This perspective reminded me of Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, where the mountain is framed within scenes of daily life. My work draws on this tradition, combining the monumental with the ordinary. The color palette I use is influenced by tones found in contemporary Japanese urban planning, bringing a modern dimension to a timeless subject.
